Within the 3LoE program, the Higher Degree students in Water and Renewable Energy Management at the Pere Martell Institute in Tarragona have solved a challenge proposed by Agbar, the creation of a floodable park on the center grounds.
It is an industrial and green area, in the city of Tarragona affected by water stress, where they have designed a proposed solution.
The participants have studied where to locate the pond, between the Tarragona WWTP and the Vila Seca WWTP, they have calculated height levels, they have proposed drains, manholes, height levels and centrifugal pumps.
They have designed the park as a lung for periods of scarcity when the treatment plants reach critical flow levels and also for water retention in periods of flooding. The students have acquired new knowledge and have discovered new solutions for water management.
Congratulations to all, students and teachers of the center.
