The Water School has participated in the European Conference "Green Skills in Vocational Education and Training (VET)" which was held at the headquarters of Ematsa (Empresa Municipal Mixta de Aguas de Tarragona). This European project focuses on establishing professional skills in the context of the green economy in three key public services: water, transport and energy.
The meeting, inaugurated by the President of EMATSA, Jordi Fortuny and the Mayor of Tarragona, Pau Ricomà , began with a round table on professional water training in Spain, with the presence of the Director General of Vocational Training of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Àngel Miquel, the Director of the National Reference Center of Electricity, Water and Gas of Guadalajara, Felipe López Solá and Lluc Pejó, Director of Talent of Agbar and the Water School. Pejó pointed out as a challenge the need to define specific competencies and redesign qualifications in line with the needs of the sector, taking into account three levels: operational, functional and digital competencies.
For her part, Mónica Pérez Clausen, Academic Director of the Water School, highlighted Agbar's commitment to Dual Vocational Training, which began in 2012 and already has more than 450 students in different training cycles and more than 20 companies involved, at a table dedicated to sharing best practices and experiences at European level in vocational training in the water sector.
Green Skills in VET is an initiative driven by SGI Europe and the European Federation of Education Employers (EFEE), two entities that have joined forces to pool the contents of the education sector and the future needs of three key public services such as transport, water and energy. The aim of the project is to generate synergies that will enable the promotion and training of qualified manpower for these services and to materialize the green transition. The project is being carried out over the period 2021-2023 in six member states (the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, France, Germany and Spain).
