The Water School offers the possibility of two-day on-site intensifications visiting leading facilities of the urban water cycle with the accompaniment of the managers and experts of each facility in reference hubs.
Visits to the different facilities planned (DWTP, WWTP, ITAM, water reservoir, operational control center, laboratory, etc.) will highlight the technical characteristics that make them attractive to professionals due to their modern, efficient and environmentally friendly designs and operating models.
At the moment the offer available for 2022 is focused on Levante (Alicante and Murcia - September 21 and 22, 2022) and Barcelona (November 8 and 9, 2022). These are two intense days of visits to the best facilities in each of the areas.
In the Levante Tour visit the DINAPSIS Benidorm "Urban Water Management and Green and Blue Infrastructures", LABAQUA, environmental consultancy and analysis laboratory for industry and administration, where they apply the latest technological advances, the San Gabriel Anti-pollution reservoir, a powerful infrastructure with a maximum storage capacity of 60.60,000 cubic meters, which has significantly improved the overflow problems in the area, the Marjal Flood Park, a benchmark in circular water economy and green infrastructure, the Contraparada DWTP, a facility that supplies 25% of the volume demanded, the Murcia-East WWTP, a pioneering wastewater treatment plant in projects linked to the recovery of nutrients from wastewater and their use as fertilizers, and in projects for the regeneration of water free of compounds related to the coronavirus and its use for irrigation of experimental crops, and the ITAM Valdelentisco, one of the largest desalination plants in Europe (annual production of 70 hm3/year): 70 hm3/year).
In the Tour of Barcelona you can also visit the DINAPSIS "Resilient Water and IoT 4 Climate Change", from which intelligence on municipal assets is provided remotely and efficiently, the ETAP St Joan Despí, one of the most technologically advanced water treatment plants in Europe, the Operational Control Center d'Aigües de Barcelona, the nerve center of the drinking water supply to 3 million people, the laboratory d'Aigües de Barcelona, an international benchmark in the analysis of drinking water and the only one in Spain with a team dedicated to water tasting, the Aigües de Barcelona laboratory, an international benchmark in the analysis of water for human consumption and the only one in Spain with a team dedicated to water tasting, and the IDAM Barcelona (ATLL), one of the largest desalination plants in Europe, with an annual production of 60 hm3/year.
The program is also a meeting point for industry professionals interested in sharing best practices based on professional experience.
